Although it has been updated for commercial use, the B&O Depot in Mountain Lake Park remains a landmark near the train tracks. The distinctive bell-shaped tower has been replaced by a hip roof and the open platform has been enclosed. Early photos depict it with a dark color which was made lighter in later years.

The railroad was the primary source of distance travel at the turn of the last century. The “iron horse” transported thousands of visitors every summer to Mountain Lake Park.
