Goucher owned and sold several properties in Mountain Lake Park while maintaining his impressive Pikesville, MD homestead which he named Alto Dale.
Goucher Properties
Dr. John F. Goucher (namesake of Goucher College) was instrumental in Mountain Lake Park’s founding in 1881 and its ongoing success through the early 1900s. He invested heavily in making sure the original vision of him and his comrades continued for several decades. As the final interim president of the Mountain Lake Park Association, Goucher negotiated a deal with the Board of Foreign Missions to take over the resort community.
